Project Description
The identity tags belonging to World War Two pilot Kevin Fell were recently discovered in a house in northern France.
Like a tale from a mystery novel, the metal discs had been untouched since 1944 when a British aircraft was shot down by German forces, killing all personnel on board.
By examining Australian service records, official documents in England and France, and local history files in the country town of Forbes (NSW), I was able to locate the Australian descendants of Flight Lieutenant Fell, to link the house with the French resistance, and return this precious memorabilia to his family.
